BIOGRAPHY

Uri Elkayam, MD, is presently Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) and professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and director of maternal at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. In addition, he is the president of the Foundation for Heart Failure Education.

Professor Elkayam’s research and clinical interests are in the areas of Cardiac problems in pregnancy, cardiomyopathies, congestive heart failure, valvular heart disease and. He has been involved in more than 100 self-initiated; NIH and industry funded research projects and has served in a leading position in numerous national and international multi-center studies and presently in the steering committee of the REBIRTH study and the HOPE registry. He is the author or co-author on over 250 publications and over 90 book chapters. He is the editor of 4 editions of the textbook “Cardiac Problems in Pregnancy “and the co-founder and chairman of the “International congress of Cardiac Problems in Pregnancy” and the director of “Cardio Obstetrics University” symposium and the Los Angeles heart failure annual symposium . Professor Elkayam is a pioneer in the area of cardio obstetrics and has the distinction of receiving the “2021 American College of cardiology distinguish Bernadine Healy Leadership in Women’s Cardiovascular Disease Award” and the “2026 honorary membership of the Israel Cardiology Society”.
