BIOGRAPHY

Rohan D’Souza MD PhD FRCOG is a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Physician and Associate Professor with the Departments of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Health Research Methods, Evidence & Impact at McMaster University, Hamilton, Canada

He holds a Tier-2 Canada Research Chair in Maternal Health and is the recipient of numerous grants and awards, including the CPP2025 award for contributions to cardio-obstetrics. 

Dr. D’Souza leads the Family-Oriented and service User centred Research on pregnancy Health (FLOURISH) group at McMaster University and is the principal investigator on several research initiatives, which include 

– The Canadian Obstetric Survey System (CanOSS) – a Canada-wide initiative for reducing severe adverse pregnancy events. 

– The Canadian Network of Networks to Reduce Cardiovascular Mortality and Morbidity in Pregnancy (CaNCaM-Preg)

– The Outcome Reporting in Obstetric Studies (OROS) initiative for harmonizing outcome reporting and the inclusion of patient-important outcomes in clinical decision making

– The Confidence Project which aims to increase vaccine confidence among pregnant and postpartum individuals, and • Improving Peripartum Outcomes Project (ImPrOP) which aims to increase the safety and success of vaginal birth following labour induction, reduce morbidity from operative vaginal births, and lower the incidence of serious outcomes from postpartum haemorrhage.
