I was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Wichita State University. I graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1997 with an M.D. degree. My internship and residency in Internal Medicine was completed at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. I completed a fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases at Baylor University Medical Center, then completed a fellowship in Adult Congenital Heart Disease at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. After graduation, I spent a brief time in private practice before returning to Mayo Medical Center for a staff position in Cardiology, practicing in the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Clinic. I became the Director of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Clinic at the University if Oklahoma Health Science Center in July 2015.
