BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Doreen DeFaria Yeh completed Internal Medicine Residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and Cardiology and Echocardiography fellowships at the University of California at San Francisco.  She completed advanced training in Adult Congenital Heart Disease and Cardio-Obstetrics at University of California, San Francisco and currently serves as the Co-Director of the MGH Cardiovascular Disease and Pregnancy Program.  She Chaired the MGH Department of Medicine’s Intern Selection Committee and subsequently started as Director of the MGH Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program in 2017.  As Director, she has pioneered a number of important initiatives within the fellowship to innovate in interactive education, clinical operations as well as expand the diversity, equity and community mission in cardiovascular training.   Dr. DeFaria is a multiple recipient of the Brian A. McGovern Memorial Award from the MGH Department of Medicine for Excellence in Clinical Teaching in Cardiology including in 2024.  She recently received the Karen Carlson Excellence in Mentoring Award, and Exemplary Service Award through the Cape Verdean American Medical Society for her work in screening young patients for rheumatic and congenital heart disease.
