BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Doreen DeFaria Yeh is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Co-Director of the Cardiovascular Disease and Pregnancy Program at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).  She completed Internal Medicine Residency at MGH and Cardiology and Echocardiography fellowships at the University of California at San Francisco.  She completed advanced training in Adult Congenital Heart Disease and Cardio-Obstetrics at University of California, San Francisco.  She Chaired the MGH Department of Medicine’s Intern Selection Committee and has served as the Director of the MGH Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program since 2017.  As Director, she has pioneered a number of important initiatives within the fellowship to innovate in interactive education, clinical operations as well as expand the diversity, equity and community mission in cardiovascular training.   Dr. DeFaria is a multiple recipient of the Brian A. McGovern Memorial Award from the MGH Department of Medicine for Excellence in Clinical Teaching in Cardiology including in 2024, Karen Carlson Excellence in Mentoring Award, and Exemplary Service Award through the Cape Verdean American Medical Society for her work in screening young patients for rheumatic and congenital heart disease.  She is Cape Verdean by background and is committed to elevating the cardiovascular health and ending rheumatic heart disease in Cape Verde.
