Dr. Barbara Wichert-Schmitt is a cardiologist in Austria, with expertise in Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) and cardio-obstetrics. In 2020, she successfully completed a two-year clinical and research fellowship in ACHD under the mentorship of Prof. Erwin Oechslin at the Toronto General Hospital, and in Pregnancy and Heart Disease with Prof. Candice Silversides at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. Her research is focused on various aspects of maternal valvular heart disease during pregnancy, particularly in patients with mitral stenosis and those with bioprosthetic valves. Dr. Wichert-Schmitt is the head of the ACHD and cardio-obstetric program  at the Kepler University Hospital in Linz.
