BIOGRAPHY
Abha Khandelwal is a clinical cardiologist who is also the cardiac director of the maternal heart program at Stanford. She has a Master’s in Management of information systems and integrated technology to improve operations within cardiovascular ambulatory clinics. She serves as the ambulatory clinic chief for cardiovascular medicine and the non-invasive cardiology section chief. She also is the quality champion for Cardiovascular Medicine at Stanford. Her research spans clinical trials in preventative cardiology in high risk populations, imaging, cardio-obstetrics and women’s heart health. Her goal is to improve maternal morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular disease. She has been part of multicenter, and state-based initiatives to improve diagnosis and treatment of women with peripartum cardiomyopathy. At Stanford she has worked closely with Maternal fetal medicine, anesthesia and behavioral health to implement programs to improve quality outcomes in high risk pregnant individuals. She has utilized digital health initiatives to improve the cardiometabolic profile of women with a history of gestational diabetes and hypertension post-partum. Lastly, she is an active member of the AHA go red scientific advisory committee as well as the counsel on Clinical Cardiology.
