BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Susan Eagle has served on faculty for more than 20 years as a Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), at a high-volume, high acuity academic medical and obstetric center.  She is fellowship trained in both adult and pediatric congenital cardiac anesthesiology and is board certified in advanced perioperative transesophageal echocardiography.  

Dr. Eagle is involved in peripartum management of patients with adult congenital heart disease.  In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Eagle has invented m-Health devices and held CMO and CEO positions at startup companies, where her devices have received Food and Drug Administration clearance and national recognition from Google Entrepreneurs.  Dr. Eagle has received funding for her translational research through National Institutes of Health (R01), Department of Defense, National Science Foundation, and American Heart Association.  

She has been recognized for her excellence in mentorship nationally, including Women in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology (WICTA) and Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER).  Dr. Eagle received her Executive Coaching Certification through the International Coaching Federation.  Dr. Eagle currently serves as Executive Vice Chair for the Department of Anesthesiology, Executive Medical Director for Perioperative Services, and Director of Perioperative Adult Congenital Heart Disease at VUMC.
