Maria Pabon, originally from Cucuta, Colombia, is a cardiologist at Brigham and Women\u2019s Hospital (BWH), Harvard Medical School, with a clinical and research focus on cardio-obstetrics and cardiovascular women\u2019s health aiming to bridge gaps in understanding sex-specific differences in cardiovascular disease. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her research experience spans the spectrum of basic, translational, and clinical investigation. Her research integrates clinical and translational approaches to address four key areas: <\/p>\n\n\n\n
1) understanding sex-specific mechanisms underlying cardiovascular disease, <\/p>\n\n\n\n
2) exploring the link between adverse reproductive outcomes and cardiovascular disease, particularly future risk of heart failure <\/p>\n\n\n\n
3) investigating the role of anti-angiogenic factors during pregnancy as predictors of long-term cardiovascular risk, <\/p>\n\n\n\n
4) translating these insights into clinical trials that improve therapeutic strategies for women. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
